At Darco Design & Construction, we take pride in delivering forward-thinking, high-performance commercial spaces and our latest project at the San Antonio Shopping Center in Mountain View is a prime example.

We’re currently making major strides on a dual-brand dealership featuring Hyundai and Genesis, each with its own distinct architectural identity. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the progress, challenges, and design vision driving this high-profile build.

Building from the Inside Out: Infrastructure in Motion

We began this phase by tackling the backbone of the building framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. The current focus is on the sales and administrative areas, located at the rear of the project. With all walls still open and exposed, our team is pushing forward on key infrastructure:

  • HVAC ductwork and electrical lines are being installed in every office space

  • Plumbing lines particularly copper and sewer systems are in place, with new sewer layouts requiring concrete demolition and repour due to existing site conditions (TI)

  • Framing is well underway, allowing us to define spaces like client bathrooms, offices, and showroom access points

Hyundai Showroom: Modern Aesthetic Meets Brand Identity

Hyundai recently underwent a brand refresh, and we’re aligning this build with their sleek, modern design language. The Hyundai showroom will feature:

  • A clean, drop-ceiling layout in an open-concept space

  • A layout tailored to highlight the Ioniq, Hyundai’s flagship electric vehicle, displayed under a custom-engineered circular architectural feature

  • Precision planning and engineering to meet brand specifications, including ceiling heights, width clearances, and seamless integration of architectural finish elements

This feature required extensive coordination between our design and engineering teams to execute properly.

Genesis Showroom: Industrial, Open, and Bold

The Genesis side of the dealership embraces a distinctly different aesthetic, more industrial, open, and raw by design. This area will include:

  • Black-painted exposed ceilings, visible ductwork, and structural elements

  • Full glass partitions for a transparent and premium customer experience

  • A second suspended display cube engineered without columns and attached to the structure above, carefully designed to meet weight and load requirements

Design-Build Expertise in Action

This project is a testament to what Darco does best: turning complex design visions into real-world builds. From technical challenges like ceiling-suspended features and structural retrofits, to aligning with the unique branding of two major automotive brands, this dealership is coming together thanks to the experience and dedication of our in-house team.

Every step of this build is managed through Darco’s integrated design-build approach, ensuring streamlined execution and consistent quality.
