At Darco Construction, we believe every space has the potential to become something extraordinary and that includes service centers. Our latest project in Mountain View showcases just that. What was once a traditional commercial office building is now being retrofitted into a full-service Hyundai Genesis service center, designed for peak efficiency and elevated customer experience.

Mountain View Hyundai Genesis Service Center Update | Darco Construction Walkthrough

From Concept to Construction

This facility is not just a service center, it's a carefully planned transformation that brings together branding, structure, and customer functionality. The project began with a complete design overhaul about a year ago. After securing permits just two months ago, construction is now well underway.

A major part of the renovation includes the addition of two branded canopies at the entrance. These covered structures will feature Hyundai and Genesis branding elements like custom metal panels, stucco finishes, and colour signage all designed to give visitors a consistent brand experience from the moment they arrive.

Structural Upgrades and Reinforcements

Because we introduced several new openings in the building’s concrete walls, we had to structurally retrofit the facility to maintain safety and stability. As a Type I (concrete-only) building, this meant using shotcrete to reinforce vertical loads, essentially applying a new wall layer over the existing one. The result: a stronger, more durable framework designed to handle the facility's new operational demands.

Customer-Centric Design

The front of the service center has been designed with customer experience in mind. Here, service advisors will greet clients, check them in, and direct them to the comfortable waiting lounge. The space will also include restrooms and designated service desks to streamline communication and improve turnaround times.

Electric Vehicle-Ready

One of the most exciting features is the dedicated EV lab, which will house three bays specifically for Hyundai and Genesis electric vehicles. These areas will be equipped with charging stations and software update systems, reflecting the shift toward more software-focused vehicle maintenance.

Full-Service Operation

The rear of the facility is where the heavy-duty work happens. With 14 bays, each outfitted with lifts and tool benches, technicians will be able to perform everything from oil changes to more complex repairs. Roll-up security doors ensure safety after hours, and a large parts room allows mechanics to access necessary components quickly.

From Office to Industrial: Changing the Game

Transforming this building required more than just physical construction. We also navigated the Title Use Permit (TUP) process to officially change the property's classification from commercial office space to an industrial service center, a process that took approximately six months.

At Darco, we're proud to bring visions like this to life, from design and permitting to full-scale build-out. If you’re considering a commercial retrofit or new ground-up project, we’re ready to help bring it to life with precision and expertise.
