CAMDEN II
Our second project on Camden Avenue took a classic 1,782 sq. ft. San Jose home and gave it a completely modern interior identity. Where the first Camden home leaned coastal, this one is quieter and more architectural — handleless cabinetry, full-height stone, and a carefully restrained material palette.
Every surface was reconsidered. DARCO Construction executed a full interior remodel spanning the kitchen, living area, and bathrooms, with a focus on precision millwork, seamless tile work, and lighting that does real design work. The entire scope was delivered in 12 weeks.
The result is a home that feels calm and intentional, where the craftsmanship shows in what you don't
see as much as what you do.
The kitchen was rebuilt from the ground up as a true European-style space. Full-height custom modern cabinetry wraps the room in a soft warm white with a fully handleless face, concealing a paneled Monogram column refrigerator and a stacked Monogram double wall oven so the appliances disappear into the architecture.
A glossy charcoal glazed tile backsplash runs floor to ceiling behind the range, giving the room depth and a reflective quality that shifts with the light throughout the day. Light stone countertops with an undermount sink and a Monogram gas cooktop keep the working surfaces uninterrupted, while a custom hood enclosure integrates the ventilation into the cabinet run.
A LIVING ROOM ANCHORED IN STONE
The living room was reworked around a new architectural centerpiece. A floor-to-ceiling fluted terrazzo fireplace surround — sourced through Penguin Fireplaces — runs the full height of the vaulted ceiling,
its vertical reeding catching the light from the skylight above.
Set on a honed dark marble hearth, the fireplace is flanked by symmetrical custom built-ins — open shelving above, closed cabinetry below — designed and fabricated to sit flush with the wall plane.
The existing plank ceiling and beams were refinished in a clean white to open the volume up and let the
stone read as the sole focal point.
A sculptural RH glass cluster chandelier hangs at the center of the room, a deliberate contrast of soft, organic form against the hard geometry of the stone. Throughout the home, custom TruStile doors
with Emtek hardware carry the same restraint into every opening. It's a space that does a lot with very
few moves.
A SPA THAT WORKS HARDER THAN ITS FOOTPRINT
The bathroom is a study in getting maximum effect out of a compact plan. Rather than fight the dimensions, we built a wet room — placing a freestanding soaking tub and the shower together behind a single frameless glass panel, so the full width of the room reads as one continuous space. The walls are clad in a handmade-look square tile with natural variation and a soft glow, carried into a recessed niche and lit from above with concealed cove lighting for a warm, diffused wash.
A Lexia thermostatic shower system in unlacquered brass, paired with a matching tub filler, brings in a living finish that will patina over time — and gives precise temperature control at every valve. A wall-hung Duravit water closet with a concealed carrier keeps the floor clear, and large-format limestone tile runs wall to wall to reinforce the sense of openness. In the powder area, a curved fluted white oak vanity with a stone top, brass faucet, softened rectangular mirror, and a marble-look sconce round out the palette — warm wood and brass against pale stone.
